We take great pleasure and honour in inviting your shooters to participate in the impending 2007 Singapore Open Shooting Championships (2007 SOSC).

The Organizing Committee has taken superfluous endeavors to make certain your shoot and stay in uniquely Singapore (http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/index.html), a dynamic city rich in contrast and colour where you'll find a harmonious blend of culture and cuisine an enjoyable, exhilarating and memorable one where new friendships are discovered, built and nurtured.

The 2007 SOSC is the most prestigious shooting event in Singapore. We welcome you to join us, to make this championship a big success. Last year, we galvanized a milestone by holding the inaugural World Association 1500 Precision Pistol Competition (WA 1500 PPC), a light action full bore shooting discipline focusing on bulls eye precision and extraordinary shooting marksmanship to tests shooter's ability under a number of time limit, distance and position constraints (the course of fire).

This year, I'm happy to report that we intend to create yet another milestone for SSA in the number of participants for 2007 SOSC. To help us attain our goal, we had lined up the following events for your participation and support.

  1. ISSF Pistol & Rifle
    10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Rifle, 25m Centre-fire, 25m Sport Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, 50m Free Pistol, 50m Prone Rifle and 50m 3 Positions. (http://www.issf-shooting.org)

  2. ISSF Clay Event
Trap, Double Trap and Skeet. (http://www.issf-shooting.org)

  3. World Association 1500 Precision Pistol Competition (WA 1500 PPC)
Main-match Pistol / Revolver, Distinguish Pistol, Stock Pistol, Service Revolver, Open Pistol (Modified) and Snub-nose Revolver (Modified). (http://www.wa1500.org/index1.htm). We will adhere strictly to the rules as stipulated by WA1500PPC as much as possible with some in-house rules to enhance participations. Rules and regulation will be briefed and discussed during the technical meeting to avoid misunderstandings.

The only major exception is given to the Snub-nose Revolver (Modified) match where the rules and format is specially calibrated to suit Singapores mainstream Police revolver, the Taurus Md85.

In the view of promoting precision pistol shooting and encouraging shooters of various skill sets, the Singapore Open Shooting Championship WA 1500 PPC will have two major classes; the Open and Production Classes. Each major class has five sub-classes, segregated by a fixed percentage; namely, High master class (98.4%), Master class (96%), Expert class (96%), Sharpshooter (92%) and finally Marksman (86% and below). The top three shooters of each sub class will each receive a wining medal. For more detail please see (/competitions/sosc2007/rules/PPC_Match_Rules_2007_-_9_Jun_2007.pdf).

  4. Down-The-Line
